| ACCOMMODATION IN INGLETON |
|
Ingleborough is one of Yorkshires highest peaks at 724 metres (2375 feet) which together with Whernside (736m) and Pen-y-ghent (694m) forms the famous Three Peaks of Yorkshire. The sumit of Ingleborough is about 2.5 miles from the village of Ingleton and is an easy climb along a track. Towards the top rock steps have been constructed to prevent the damage which was being caused by hundreds of walkers. Another route is from Clapham, a village about four miles from Ingleton. The climb from Clapham is farther than that from Ingleton and takes you past Ingleborough Cave and Gaping Gill. A third route is from Chapel le Dale. A circuitous walk may be made by ascending via one route and returning by another. |
